About the sector

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector is emerging as a dynamic sector of the nation’s economy. The MSMEs across India account for nearly 27 percent of India's GDP in the financial year 2021. The MSME sector in Andhra Pradesh manufactures a variety of products with the majority of the micro and small units actively engaged in sectors such as Agri & Food Processing, Aqua processing, Automotive, Textiles, Minerals, Granite, Leather, Fabricated Materials, Construction material, etc. The state government is handholding MSMEs training to enhance skill sets, providing fiscal incentives, providing preferential market access, enabling export ecosystem through initiatives like One District One product, etc.,

Preferential Market access to MSEs in all Government Procurements

Extended ReSTART package to MSMEs during Lockdown to bail them out of Financial crisis

Under YSR Navodayam ( One Time Restructuring of MSME loans) 1.78 lakhs MSME whose accounts, worth more than INR 7,976 Cr (USD 1 Bn.), was restructured.

Extending Incentives under Industrial Development policy and YSR Jagananna Badugu Vikasam Policy to nurture MSMEs

To promote micro-enterprises by women entreprepreneurs, the State is implementing schemes such as YSR Cheyutha and YSR Aasara

As part of the cluster development programme, the State has set a target of grounding 100 clusters in the next 2 years, out of which 52 clusters are proposed to establish during the FY 2022-23 @ 2 clusters per each district.

Initiated Industries-Spandana – A One-Stop grievance redressal system to enable easy and fast resolution of queries/grievances

Continuous Monitoring of MSMEs through Industry Health Analysis and taking up necessary remedial measures

About the sector

The State is building a tech entrepreneurial ecosystem by the promotion of incubation centers under the aegis of APIS (Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society); a nodal agency set up to spearhead the startup activities in the state and promote budding entrepreneurs amongst Universities & Colleges. APIS, with the support of the state government, has developed incubators spread over 51,213 sft. in the Innovation Valley, Visakhapatnam, 6500 sft. in Incubation Tower at Kakinada, 2,300 sft. in Vijayawada and 6,300 sft. at Tirupati; APIS has also supported the formation of 26 Incubators (7 by the Government & Academia, 2 by NGOs, and 17 by Private Academia Incubators). The Government of Andhra Pradesh is also operating on the “Bootup-Startup-Scaleup” model focusing on the first-generation Technology-based entrepreneurs contributing to employment generation, new products, services, and social transformation.

Sector Highlights & Key Initiatives

Entrepreneur Innovation & Startup Cells (EISCs) have been started and students across 534 Colleges in the state are being nurtured to follow their ideas and become entrepreneurs.

Incubators such as the Atal Incubation Centre at Sri Krishnadeveraya University and 25 TBIs with domain expertise across various sections being set up.

APIS is continuously conducting Hackathons/Challenges across Fintech, Agritech, the Logistics sector, etc. to discover innovative chnology solutions for pressing problems in society.
